Privacy Policy

Overview 

Privacy of the Users is of utmost importance to the Partners. This privacy statement describes the Partner’s guidelines concerning the gathering and sharing of visitors’ information through GHIC websites. Accessing the GHIC website, indicates the acceptance of a User to the terms of the privacy guidelines.      

1. Nature of Type of Information Collected    

Anonymous website usage

A User may browse and access the GHIC website without sharing any personally identifiable information. The general browsing data including IP (Internet Protocol) address, domain name, browser type, operating system, etc, from standard server logs are collected by the Partners. 

Collection of personally identifiable information 

A User’s personal data like name, postal address and e- mail address is collected when a User subscribes to a newsletter or journal, logs on to the GHIC site, requests information, provides feedback, joins a discussion group or join an electronic mailing list. Prior to collecting any data, the User is informed about the type of information to be collected and the purpose for which it is collected. All personal data collected is stored on databases of the Partners. In the event a User is making a donation, the credit card details of the User may also be requested and stored.   

The websites of the Partners may be governed by their own websites and this Privacy Guidelines may not apply, unless stated otherwise.   

In the event a User, joins an electronic discussion group, other participants of the discussion group (including non-Partner employees) may gain access to a User’s personal information. If the discussion group is an open public forum, the personal data shared by a User may also become public.   

Disclosure of Information to Others

The Partners do not disclose to third parties User’s personal information, combined personal and demographic information, or information about their use of the website (such as areas User visits or services User accesses), except that:   

  1. ISA may disclose such information to companies and individuals the Partners employs to perform functions on its behalf. Examples may include hosting the web servers, and analyzing data. These companies and individuals will have access to the User’s personal information solely as necessary to perform their functions.   
  2. ISA may disclose such information, subject to ISA privileges and immunities, if requested to do so by ISA’s Assembly including Member States, or if necessary in ISA’s sole discretion to protect ISA property or rights, prevent a crime or protect the safety of Users or the public.   

Use of cookies 

A cookie is a piece of data stored on the User's hard drive containing information about the User. Usage of a cookie is in no way linked to any personally identifiable information while on the site.   

The GHIC website may use cookies in order to remember the details of a User the next time they visit the website. A User may decline the cookies, through their browser settings. However, declining the cookies may result in the nonavailability of certain features and re-entering of information previously populated every time the GHIC website is accessed.

2. Purpose of Collecting Personal Information

Anonymous web usage 

The information gathered during general browsing of the GHIC domain is used to analyze trends and usage of the GHIC site and to improve the usefulness of the site. It is not connected with any personal information. Normal web usage information may become User identifiable information if a User registers on the GHIC website for any activity mentioned on the website.

Personal Information collected by the GHIC website may be used for the following purposes:   

3. Opting out or Changing Personal Information

It is optional for a User to provide personal information. If a User does not wish to provide personal information, they may browse and use the GHIC site anonymously. If a User decides to browse the website anonymously, certain functions of the website, such as making donations, registering for a newsletter, etc, may not be available to a User.

A User may delete or modify their personal information by amending the personal information on the web page it was first provided or by contacting the ISA IT team at  [email protected] .   

If a User had elected to receive communications such as newsletters and other material from GHIC and no longer wishes to continue, the User may log into their account and edit their preferences or click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the email received by the User.

Security 

ISA does not sell or share any personally identifiable information volunteered on the GHIC site to any third party without the prior consent of the User. ISA employs a range of techniques and security measures based on best practices to protect the information maintained on its system from loss, misuse, unauthorized access or disclosure, alteration, or destruction. However, ISA assumes no responsibility for the security of information.

Links to other sites – Disclaimer 

The site may contain hypertext links to other sites external to the GHIC domain. The Partners assumes no responsibility for those sites including the privacy practices or the content of such websites.   

Notification of changes

If the Partners decides to change the privacy guidelines for the GHIC website, ISA will upload the updated guidelines for the awareness and information of the Users of the GHIC website. 

4.  Protection of Personal Information 

The Partners intend to protect the quality and integrity of the User’s personally identifiable information. ISA has implemented appropriate physical, technical, and organizational measures, including industry-standard encryption for transmission of credit card information, to protect and secure a User’s information.

5.  Compliance with GDPR Data Regulations 

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (EU) 2016/679 is a regulation in EU law on data protection and privacy for all individuals within the European Union. It also addresses the export of personal data outside the EU.
